Summer
Austrians know the true meaning of hospitality and take excellent care of their guests. Many tourists climb mountain tops, trek from alpine hut to alpine hut, play golf, tennis, cycle, swim and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings and tranquility. A number of locations even offer skiing and snowboarding during summer (Kaprun and Hintertux). Guests can enjoy excellent service in the lively local restaurants, alpine huts, hotels and private lodgings. The many cableways, chair lifts and trains transport tourists to heights of up to 3450 metres, where there is still plenty of “eternal” ice to be admired.
There’s also plenty to see for those visiting Austria by car. Well-known car and motorcycle routes include the Silvretta Hochalpstrasse (between Vorarlberg and Tirol) and the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse (in Salzburg).
And last but not least, don’t forget the many beautiful cities with their wealth of cultural sights and important historic buildings or the many museums, swimming pools, golf courses, tennis courts and cycling paths. Austria has it all! Local tourist offices will be happy to help you and provide all the information you need.
